Something a little different from the rest of my content today. I’ve been working on a “sub-site” within my main website devoted to information about the 82nd’s “Ready Brigade” in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. This ties in with a “living history” event to be held at Fort Dobbs in Statesville on November 1st where I will be displaying my collection and dressing the part.
Drop by and see me and we can talk about why the 6 color desert “chocolate chip” camouflage is the most aesthetically pleasing US issued pattern of all time.
Gates at Fort Dobbs will open Saturday, November 1st at 10am and the event will go on until 4pm. There will be other reenactors and groups simulating various periods in NC history so even if Desert Storm isn’t your thing, you can expect to see displays for the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and various other time periods. There will also be weapon firing demonstrations and probably some vehicles to check out. Plus the Fort, which is awesome.
$5 admission for 13 and older. 12 and younger free, as are active duty or veterans with valid ID.
For the web content showcasing my research and collection, a subdomain is available at 82nd.abandonednc.org
