This farm was hidden by planted pines which were cut in 2014 revealing a beautiful old house that had been in shadows for at least 30 years. The earliest aerial photos I could find from 1951 show a well kept farm with several buildings and the large house present. It seems to be in decline in 1984, and by the next photo in 1998, the trees have already started swallowing the property.
It’s hard finding reliable history, and I was never able to talk to locals about it, but a map of the area from 1886 shows a “Simmons” living on the spot. Deeds of the property also refer to it as the “Simmons homeplace”.
