This movie theater in Statesville was built in 2004 and these pictures were taken not long after that while I was briefly working there as a projectionist.
While I was there both scope and flat format were being used on different screens.
With the arrival of digital that may have changed somewhat. The work that was required to ” build up prints” and set them up for shows went away, making the job of projectionist easy enough that any person with the ability to push buttons could have done it. While I was there each movie arrived in several reels that had to be spliced together. Trailers also arrived separately and had to be added to those prints as well.
Marquee Cinemas closed in 2020 was demolished in 2021 to make way for a car lot. Unless things in the industry change dramatically, it was Statesville’s last theater.
