Wayside was originally (as best I can tell) built in the 1920’s. It closed sometime in the early 2000’s and seemed destined to become an abandonment.
However, in the mid 2000’s, the United Auto Workers Union bought the property and began using it as a local headquarters.
Unfortunately, they weren’t using the oldest part of the building- the original school, and it was demolished in 2016. The remaining buildings are still used by the UAW.
