The White Pine Club

I haven’t been able to find much about this place in the newspaper archives.

From “Conover” by Donald Barker.

I do know the McGee opened it originally in 1946, I don’t know how many times it might have closed, reopened, or been renamed either, but I do know it became “Johnny Mac’s White Pine Club” in about 2003 and was host to more modern entertainment than it probably saw in it’s original life. That lasted until 2014 when it closed for good. it’s been in the McGee family all these years.
Today it’s just sitting empty, waiting on a slow death or the chance someone might save it from such a fate.

A photo from the club’s Facebook page, which is still up for the moment.

The club back in 2010.

Edit:
A number of you out there have contacted me to say that the White Pine is being saved. It’s great to know this unique old super club might be with us for years to come!

The White Pine Club is currently being restored with plans to reopen in the fall or winter, 2024. It closed in 2014 and has been sitting empty ever since. I hope they restore the neon pine trees.

Glad to hear it, it’s too nice a little building to let fall apart and collapse. I look forward to seeing the inside when they reopen!
