Picture of the Day: Houstonville, 1907

Today’s picture is a postcard. Dated 1907 and with the Houstonville, NC postmark, I’m inclined to believe the people in this photo are related to and are likely standing on the grounds of the old Daltonia Plantation. I cannot prove this conclusively but the style and quality of the buildings lead me to believe this is the case.
Unfortunately, whoever sent the postcard didn’t give us much information to go on. The sender’s name, which appears to possibly be “Risa”, when printed in quotation marks as it is on the card leads me to believe this was a nickname and not a proper name that could be found on census records. And indeed I haven’t found any “Risa” in Houstonville records.
